When it comes to health care costs, the Tampa Bay area offers some of the most affordable care in the southeast and in comparison to similar markets across the U.S. Local health care costs came in less than Atlanta, Austin, and Denver and were lower than the national average.

BayCare is the leading not-for-profit health care system in Tampa Bay with 15 hospitals, $4.39 billion in annual revenue and hundreds of convenient locations. It has an annual training and education budget of around $55 million and in 2017 paid $6.6 million in tuition reimbursements to 3,500 team members attending 124 educational institutions.

The second-ranked hospital in the state according to U.S. News and World Report, Tampa General Hospital is one of the most comprehensive facilities in Florida, serving as the area’s only Level I trauma center and one of just four burn centers in the state. Tampa General also stands as one of the leading organ transplant centers in the country and as just one of three outpatient pediatric dialysis units in Florida.

All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg has been a part of the Johns Hopkins Health System (JHHS) and a fully integrated member of Johns Hopkins Medicine (JHM) for a few years, providing high-quality care to the tiniest of patients. Their neonatal ICU is a designated Level IV NICU, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics.
